Deeply appreciate all the thinking and feeling you articulate on these issues. If I were speaking myself, I wouldn't change a word. I think, though, that you might want to double check your sources of notes on the U.S. death through malnutrition numbers, which are bad enough, if different from what you offer, and still make your point.
My check finds the 2022 CDC number of 20,500 deaths from malnutrition to be nationwide, not for Los Angeles. The tally for California for that year is 1400 as the primary cause. I haven't come across a number for Los Angeles specifically.
As always, you express the complexity of what I feel. My challenge this week is all of this and when other Jews only post about Gazans starving (without mentioning the starving hostages) and how it’s Israel’s moral duty to send food. This stance feels like a combination of self righteousness as if to say, I’m Jewish and we are moral people and I’m not a bad Jew so please like me, I’m aligned with the world. How does that sit with people? At this point, I wish Jews who post this kind of one-sidedness only fan the flames of hate. And give Hamas a pass even though they say they don’t. What to do?
I hope so much that this event brings you and all who attend comfort and love. You deserve it. Thank you for your honest and insightful and heartfelt writing. I cannot be the only one who treasures it and you. <3
Please know that your writing touches such a deep cord. Wishing you continued strength. 💗
I was about to write, but you’ve already said all I wanted to say. I can’t make tomorrow night, and I’m sorry to miss it .

Wish that I could be there!
Very, very well said. You hit it squarely on the head.
Tangled snarl of yarn is right. I am so glad we're having the zoom. Thank you. I've just emailed you. It will be at 1am here but I will be there.
