Amen to this. I'm right there next to you. Perhaps not as consistent, perhaps prone to moments of hypocrisy or slippery mental rationalizations that briefly keep the cognitive dissonance (and panic) at bay, but 90% of the time i'm twinning with you and the precise nature of your struggles. I always appreciate your substack.

Why are we such an ignorant society? Unwilling to realize the lies upon lies that are being passed off as reality? I am so proud of your willingness to exert your influence - and I hope this sphere grows and is a comfort to people -and I am always proud to be your brother - you amaze me with your dedication- I love you

I love you too, with all my heart.

About the only thing I feel confident about with this Gaza disaster is that it’s going to be even worse for us Jews. I fully expect increased antisemitism and attacks against us all over the world. But we as a general society and its many subcultures are splintering even more than we were before, which is exactly what Trump and his scumbag associates want. At the same time, there are people that I absolutely will not join forces with. For example, there are certain Jewish individuals popular on Instagram who I will not name who are very happy about Trump‘s announcement, and it’s taking all my strength to control the rage I feel against them, so obviously that’s something I need to work on.

You are my true sister.

I am feeling the same way- watching the spineless line up for their handouts. For the first time in my life I have such doubts about our trajectory- it’s sad and appalling.

I am with you. Luckily I don’t know any members of the tribe who support him (or at least don’t regularly interact with them), but I’m still in utter disbelief that the worst people have been given free reign to enslave and murder us and most don’t see it. Trump and musk want us dead and I am not being hyperbolic. They hate Americans

Continue to believe that you are not alone, because you are not. We have to remain steadfast (and steady) and above all remain true to ourselves and what we believe it. And yes, it is a seemingly lonely place but we are not alone.

Absolute chaos from the destructor in chief. If anyone is wondering what a destructor does- it is the last function called before something is destroyed. Those doing the actual destroying are those who voted for him and especially his GOP cohorts he placed in leadership positions. They are complicit and are the ones we all need to go after. No one should be letting any of them run us over. The press needs to stand up stronger and anyone who can file lawsuits needs to do it.

Well said. Might I suggest you read Rabbi Kushner's book "When Bad Things Happen to Good People"? It might have some further perspective that is oddly applicable to our current national situation.

My heart feels like it is cracking with every beat. Each and every beat. And like your imagery of being full of Arrows, I expect that at any moment pieces of me will begin to fall off and shatter on the floor.

I keep telling myself that maybe on the other side of the shattering, is a tender new reality where there is hope, and security. I keep trying to convince myself that after the shattering is not just more sadness and anger. I keep lying to myself and telling myself that most people just want peace and happiness and calm security.

But what I've seen in the last 2 weeks, has been the shift of people who I thought were going to be beside us in our fight the next 4 years. and my heart keeps shattering.

But in this sacred space you've made in this terrifying world, I do not feel alone and I know there are those of us who will fight until they kill us.

1) The Chosen and The Promise are two of my favourite books of all time. In fact, I think that it's high time that I re-read them.

2) I said all along that Trump was going to win (last November). Biden should have announced in 2022 that he was not going to run again. That would have allowed VP Harris (or someone else) to really set their own agenda and create their own identity. As well, I watched what was going on in my home state (New Jersey), and there were far more Trump signs than had been the case in 2020. It was concerning and, as it turned out, I was right to be concerned. Though Harris won New Jersey, it was much closer than it had been in 2020 or any other election since 1984.

3) If there is anything that we Jewish people should know by now, it is to not trust ANYONE. Allies have proven themselves to be anything but, especially since October 7th.

I like The Promise but it's a distant second to The Chosen.
