Am a unicorn. Right with you.

Yes, the National Jewish Book Awards news is indeed uplifting. Are you interested in lifting up the Israeli athletes at the Olympics who have endured taunts and scorn? I wrote to the Israeli Olympic Committee to convey my admiration and support, and guess what? They wrote back. Totally unexpected. My message is getting shared with the athletes. Imagine how alone they feel. The return message to me:

Thank you so very much for your heartfelt and moving message.

In times like these, your words of encouragement and solidarity mean more than we can fully express. Knowing that people around the world are standing with our athletes and supporting them with respect and admiration is deeply strengthening.

We will be sure to share your kind message with the team.

With sincere appreciation,

Renana Gershony Shtein

Administrative Manager, Olympicteamisrael

I encourage each of you in the Never Alone family to write to express your support. Write to Renana at: renana@nocil.co.il. I have always believed in the smallest of actions of kindness and solidarity. The reverberating effect may be more than you know. Am Yisrael Chai!

No offense, Elissa, but I prefer the dragon as my mythical creature of choice. I just read this:

Meet the awe-inspiring dragon from Chinese and European mythology, symbolizing strength, intelligence, and pure brilliance. These mythical beasts have a bold and fierce nature, and guess what? They want you to be bold and fierce too!

If these mythical creatures appear in your thoughts or dreams, it’s time to take action. Don’t hold back; let your voice be heard, and follow your heart’s true desires. No more playing small or hiding in the shadows!

On a spiritual level, this fire-breathing giant could be your spirit animal, signifying the beginning of your spiritual awakening.

It resonates for me personally and politically! DRAGONS. We stand side by side with unicorns.

You know, when you discuss your process of elimination of who you connect to... I do this a lot. Someone new will make a comment on something of mine, and I can see they are progressive, and I start searching for the same words you do. Or someone says something pro-Israel, and again I search to see where they stand on the political spectrum. Because I simply don't have the wherewithal to engage with certain opinions anymore.

And honestly, every time I have to do this, I find myself wanting to reach out to you personally to talk about it, to talk about the emotional labor that is involved, about the disappointment when I start talking with someone on Threads about Star Trek, say, and discover their bio shows the P flag and makes a point about "genocide," or someone engages who clearly loves Israel and then I see they are vitriolic in their hatred of the LGBTQ+ community.

Anyway, I've said this before, and I'm sorry I keep repeating myself, but this is why I'm glad you're here. Because I know I'm not the only one navigating these narrow, treacherous waters.

Thank you so much for telling me this.

You are the bullets in my rifle

Exactly my feelings. Exactly. Thank you for elucidating them so well, as you always do.

There’s no doubt that AIPAC well and truly f’ed up in that New Jersey primary.

I’m with you completely, Elissa. It’s getting harder and harder to keep my depression under control. I occasionally go on blocking sprees, but it’s futile, as the anti-Jewish lies and hatred are so prevalent and seem to be spreading. Thank you and all of your supporters for being here for us all. I’m very grateful to know that we are not alone. I love Israel and am proud to be a progressive Jew in the USA, despite what others might think of me. I’m trying very hard to remain optimistic about the future. It’s not easy. ✡️🇮🇱🇺🇸☮️💙🎶

Good and good. If T doesn't screw up the elections we'll be out of this...I have a group of Jewish anti-Israel friends/acquaintances - I've just lost a long term friendship with a noted friend (Jewish) because she got mad at me for not using the word genocide.

This primary was for the remaining part of the new governor's seat. For the new Congress there will be another primary in June. Maybe there will be another chance to get Tom Malinowski elected. Some hope?

Paige Wolf's avatar

Nope. The party won’t allow it. They all lined up behind her for June with official endorsement. It’s done

You don't think that someone who voted for the other two moderates won't rethink their vote in view of the recent outcome? The vote was very close. It wouldn't take too many to reverse the result.

They are literally not letting anyone else run in June. ALL the Democrats lined up to endorse the leftist candidate. A pro Israel moderate Dem wanted to run but they made it clear: they would NOT support anyone else.

Thank you for including me. We attract an army of unicorns, a magical zoo.

Thank you for standing shoulder to shoulder in the trenches with me!

Yep. Here in the unicorn trenches with you, friend. I have the same process of vetting and making sure someone is safe and am so often disappointed. It feels like a tightrope some days.
