You said exactly what I am thinking about the debate, her answers about Israel, and the misguided support by some Jews for Drump!

Couldn't agree more re NOT supporting Trump, regardless of how much you agree with KH on Israel or anything else. It's simple. If the county isn't happy with her after four, they can vote her out because we will still have a democracy. Not so sure if DJT wins.

Thank you for saying all this. I agree with it. And I have never understood how Jews can look at a wannabe fascist who cites Victor Orban as his endorser, a misogynist who brags about removing Roe v. Wade, and a liar who views people as objects and imagine things will go well for the Jews. Or for Israel.

Hi, Elissa. Please reconsider some of the rhetoric you use to describe Trump supporters. I am a Trump supporter myself, and I am not "spineless, rudderless, morally bankrupt" or "batshit". I support Trump because I am more terrified of the weakness Biden/Harris have signified to our most dangerous enemies than I am of Trump's buffoonish rhetoric. Biden/Harris have been following the Obama doctrine of appeasing Iran and being friendly with Qatar (who harbor Hamas terrorists), and that has been a disaster for both Israel and the United States. If Iran acquires nuclear weapons, Israel is over. Half the world's Jews gone in a minute. You also wrote that supporting Trump is not an option if we care about "the vulnerable". But I have been a homeless advocate for 30 years (and was once homeless myself) and it's the blue cities that are the absolute worst when it comes to providing affordable housing, not Red States and cities. You wrote that Trump would be a threat to "the LGBTQ+ community" but my son is a trans man, and the biggest threat to him has been the insane overreach of trans activism, which has destroyed - and is continuing to destroy - public goodwill for trans people (Lia Thomas is just one small example). You say Trump is a threat to the elderly, but are you aware that it is far easier for an elderly person to survive in Red States than in Blue States? And Trump has promised to protect Social Security and Medicare. So how is he a threat to the elderly? You wrote that Trump is a threat to "girls and women" but which ones? I've had friends in women's shelters who have been terrorized by males allowed to invade their spaces, simply by claiming that they "feel" female. What about incarcerated women who've been raped by males claiming to be female?(google it) Don't those women - the poorest and most vulnerable, matter? I'd love universal healthcare, but what have Biden/Harris done to implement such a plan. Yes, it's great that they capped the price on insulin, but prices on food and gas have gone up exponentially. Why doesn't that matter?

And why would I care who Taylor Swift endorses for president? She's a sheltered rich girl who is not affected by high crime, high inflation, or high rates of undocumented immigrants who compete for jobs with essential workers (and drive down wages).

Please be more open to the possibility that Trump supporters are neither stupid or hateful.

The fact is, a lot of us were much better off under Trump.

I think many people living in both Israel and Afghanistan could say that as well.

So Penny, I appreciate your taking the time to civilly explain your perspective to me, and I appreciate your presence and support here in spite of your profound disagreement with me.

I don't have the time or bandwidth to get into the weeds on every point you raised but I'll say that the number of women assaulted by faux transwomen, if there have been any at all, is statistically negligible compared to the huge number of women, girls, children and families who have been and will continue to be deeply traumatized by the attack on reproductive freedom.

I don't believe Iran will launch a nuclear attack on Israel, because they themselves would be gone. Israel would counter-attack with their own nuclear weapons, as would the U.S. It's the reason we and others haven't yet been nuked by any number of maniacal dictatorships like Russia or North Korea.

Trump isn't just a buffoon, he's a stone cold sociopath. He literally tried to murder half of Congress. He flung our nuclear secrets around his country club. He led an insurrection against the U.S. He has been found guilty of 34 felonies, including rape. He discouraged masking during Covid. We will never, ever agree on him and I will never stop supporting the Democrats with all my heart, soul and might within the context of this election.

I do hope you'll stay and tolerate our differences of opinion, but regardless, I have to call this issue as I see it. And I think any Jewish support for him is terribly misguided and myopic.

I hear you and I want to respond, respectfully. Trump is NOT strong. He's a bully. There's a difference. Bullies are, in fact, by definition, cowards. In addition, Trump will do whatever he thinks will make himself look good, and whatever he thinks will benefit him financially. Given that there is no actual ideology, you never know what he will do. Those are my thoughts.
