And YES to everyone having a unique role. A friend of mine who worked in the non profit sector used to say: “Time, talent, or treasure—we take generosity in all its forms.”
I love that the first pick for the book club was Nellie’s. Here’s why: Jews are realizing all the ways we’ve been kicked out of the very institutions Jews helped create, so it can feel overwhelming to need to “start over.” And while there is indeed much starting over, there are already some spaces, such as The Free Press, that formed in reaction against the insanity that was manifest before 10/7. Perhaps that insanity wasn’t inherently antisemitic, but it definitely fertilized the soil that enabled antisemitic growth. And it grew like a beanstalk from that fairytale, seemingly overnight.
And so, reading Nellie’s book helped illuminate that we are not starting from point zero. Not really.
I’m looking forward to hearing your plan for the writing & publishing community. And you’ve inspired me to think more deeply on what my own role can & should be in all of this.
I took comfort in our collective mass last night. It nourished me so that I could then return to myself with more courage & renewed stamina. We can all be active participants in this mission to fight antisemitism in the diaspora & ensure Israel remains a forever home & refuge for the Jewish people and all who live beside them.
You are an amazing leader. Where you go, I will go! ❤️🙏🏻😘
Excellent event. Thank you, Elissa. I live in Tacoma, but wonder, if there is critical mass, if we might do some in-person meetups in the Puget Sound area. It seems like everything like that happens in NYC. You obviously can't do all that work yourself. I'm happy to help as I can.
I could do that! I'm happy to do any time Sunday, wherever you all would like. Want to check with Elissa? (I'm not sure how this all works with notifications for nesting comments.)
As always, this is an excellent post.
And last night's event was amazing—LIKE YOU!
What a wonderful gift last night was! Thank you, Elissa! As always!!
So grateful for your leadership, Elissa.

You made me cry. Thank you so very much, sister. ❤️
Are you taping author talks? I would love to watch it if it is available. I have Nellie’s big on audio.
We will try to post the video on Monday.

I'm in the Seattle area too, and I'd love to join in on a meetup. I'm not sure what I have to give, but I'd like to make those connections and see!
Sounds good. I'm coming up to Seattke
I'm sorry for the goofed up note. I'm coming up to Seattle Sunday to see my grandbaby! Any time in the afternoon?

Let's definitely all try for Sunday!
I'm on my way to Seattle right now to meet with Stand With Us. Let me know if you can get coffee tomorrow or Sunday!
