Excellent news about Rep. Bowman. It lifts my heart to know one of the Squad will be gone.

This is so incredibly exciting - and what Jews have done for the millennium. We succeed in your non-Jewish forums, you kick us out, we create our own even more successful forums and organizations. Thank you for having the creative vision, tenacity and chops to make this a reality!!

Also, YES re. Bowman & everything you said: he was a disappointment who became a horror. We all deserve better.

I feel that you are writing just for me, Elissa. I did read your substack from the very beginning, and, in fact, I knew Judith very well. I was inspired by her story and her friendship. I’m so glad that you named the magazine after her. Can’t wait!

Thank Elissa for your vision and moxie to manifest what is needed most right now in the Jewish literary world.

Yes, I was pleased and I appreciate that you talk about it in just the way I feel about it. Someone you voted for (or, in my case, I would've probably voted for his if he lived in my district) has turned out to be someone who has a knee-jerk-currently-leftie anti-Israel stance. I have written to several members of 'the squad' about this...for whatever that's worth.

Purchased by AIPAC? That’s the way the system works! Ah-men.

I think he would have lost even without AIPAC. He was very out of sync with his constituents.

Actually, Bowman was considered very vulnerable well before AIPAC was involved - he was bad on constituent services among other liabilities. And I'm sure you didn't mean "purchased by AIPAC" as the tiresome blood libel that Jewish money - as opposed to clean non-Jewish money? - runs the world. But I am a little bemused, given Bowman's performance of the last few weeks especially, that you feel he had the political & intellectual seriousness to be a Congressional Rep, a job I still believe is quite important.

The purchased comment was a quote from the blog I think, which was quoting other people. My comment was based on the fact that they're all "purchased" one way or the other. I'm agreeing with you that when it comes to the Jews, it's all of a sudden a major issue. No worries. I didn't express my idea very clearly. (I certainly did not think he was qualified to be a Congressman).
