Thank you so so so much for this, you are so clear thinking. I was elated as well, but all of the nincompoops got me down

Thanks for making my day with your clear thinking , nothing but antisemitism on the other side

you called that right you are an amazing Singer and writer. I love all your posts, but this was the best. Thanks for saying it like it is. What is wrong with that idiot Bernie Sanders?

Sanders has been ridiculous for decades. He is a total misogynist beginning with how he treated woman candidates in Vermont before he made it to Congress. He has nothing to offer, and everyone in Congress will tell he has accomplished NOTHING with his hot air all of these years as a federally elected official. He is all ego and does not even try to work with others effectively. Forget about him, my friend.

1) Jewish progressives are often more attached to their progressivism than to their Judaism, and they appear to be a big part of why Zohran Mamdani will win the Democratic Primary for mayor tomorrow. They should be careful what they wish for; it may not work out the way they hope.

2) "Israel dragged the U.S. into its war. Netanyahu played Trump like a fiddle." People who believe this are quite numerous, and they get REALLY offended if you dare point out that this is an inherently antisemitic position.

I just returned from a discussion group in my retirement community, where more than 90% of the community is very liberal /progressive/ left, and and heard all these points that you cited. I'm just too angry and demoralized ... and tired... I simply do not have the energy nor was I given the floor long enough to explain everything as you just did so cogently. I felt some relief reading your essay and now I'm sitting back and doing some deep breathing exercises.

So very well written. I am also having cognitive dissonance regarding Trump. Given his atrocious track record on human rights and re- his own antisemitism, I find myself wondering what is in this for him. At the same time, I feel that elated feeling you describe, and my adult response is that bad people can do good things. Same with Netanyahu. This is a great example of why not subscribing to groupthink when illuminating information is presented is crucial. The lefties supporting Iran in the streets are evil, useful idiots for fascism, incredibly stupid or all of the above.

Me, too, Ms. Wald. I don't give a f-ck. Moral compass work can be lonely. So glad to be with you.

As always, Jeff and I are in complete agreement with every word you write. I’m not exactly “elated,” because I’m eternally, chronically depressed, but I am so proud of Israel and our people, proud to be a Jew, a Zionist, a part of this brilliant, brave community who stand up for what is true and good, and must be done. Thank you, Elissa. ✡️🇮🇱🇺🇸🤩❤️☮️ 🎶

You've captured the kernel of this beautiful and baffling moment. And might I add heartbreaking?

It's beautiful in its biblical proportions. There's something cosmic about what happening, and though the cosmos never stands still, the past twenty months has revealed that it's at work.

It's a baffling moment because now the left defends dehumanising women and torturing political dissidence if it's authorised by a super wealthy islamo-fascist. How did a political movement that espouses equality get to this point?: Jew hatred. Is it too far fetched to expect to see N American women start walking around in full burka in solidarity with Iran?

It's heartbreaking because of what makes it baffling: what this moment shows is that the left perceives the mere existence of a Jewish state as responsible for more suffering and misery than Iran's oppression of women, torture of dissidents, and chronic use of terrorism against civilians around the world. That the left supports a regime that represents everything they hate, but hates a state that stands for most of what they value. Jew hatred is powerful, isn't it.

In short, the left has completely internalised Iran's (Khomeini's!) worldview. And our job, as Jews, once this war is over, is to expose and address that, first by supporting regime change, and next by working with that new regime to eliminate the mind virus of islamism.
