Shabbat Shalom, Elissa. You continue to inspire and bring hope, even when all the notes can’t be high.

Thanks, as ever, Elisse. Thoughtful as usual.

I'll provide the high note for you. I teach at Oregon State University, where we had a relatively benign encampment that was taken down voluntarily in advance of Saturday's graduation ceremony. In a packed football stadium, I saw a total of four kefiyas, one with a tiny "free Palestine pin," and not a single sign, mortar board or flag on the issue. No chants or walkouts either. I also saw lots of students wearing stars of David and chais. The president started by reminding everyone that this was a celebration of accomplishment for the students and their families, NOT for politics -- the whole stadium erupted in applause.

The Jewish faculty have organized and will be meeting with the provost and leadership in coming weeks, as they would like our input moving forward.

Small wins, but we'll take what we can get!

Am Yisrael chai!
